Logging in

Log into app.abacus.co as HQ and click the BI icon in order to see all your sales reports across all your stores.

You can switch which site you are signed in as by going to the dropdown box at the top right corner of the page.

General guidelines

Although each report is different, the tools to help you interpret them are the same.

 Sales Activity

Your daily sales for all stores will be displayed here.

Compare sales against weather

Go to the Month tab and click Export to download a CSV file of the month's sales and the corresponding weather for each day.

Sales Summary (By Store)

A summary of the sales for each store will be displayed here, broken down into the average sales based on the number of transactions.

Cash Register Group

If one of your sites is particularly large, you can separate its cash registers into groups. This means you can compare, for example, the sales made at the cash register group near the bar and the sales made at the cash register group near the front door.

This requires setting up “Cash Register Groups” on the POS backend, and manually assigning each POS iPad to a group.

Company Group

You can separate multiple companies (a.k.a. sites, stores) into groups, so you can compare, for example, the sales made by your bars, and the sales made by your restaurants.

This requires setting up “Company Groups” and manually assigning each company to a group.

Sales Comparison

This report compares your sales for up to 4 separate periods, for any combination of stores.

The boxes show:

  • Sales

  • Transactions

  • Average Sales Per Transaction

  • Guest Count*

  • Average Spend per person*

*Guest Count and Spend Per Person will only be calculated for stores that use a guest count on the POS

Section Sales Analysis

This report allows you to compare sales according to your own custom periods, e.g. Breakfast for 8am-11am.

Each "section" needs to be created in the Settings tab first, otherwise you won't be able to find any sales.

To create your "sections":

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Click New Group and enter its Name. A Group is an assemblage of "sections" that make up a day. For example, you might have a "Group" for weekdays, and a "Group" for weekends, where your hours are slightly different.

  3. Expand the Group by clicking the arrow button

  4. Create a New Section, enter the Start and End times

Repeat until you have completed a Group with its Sections.

When you go back to the Daily Section Sales tab, you'll see that each Section that you created will be highlighted its own colour in sales graph.

Creating multiple groups

You can only view one "group" of sections at a time, but you can have multiple "groups" set up that you can toggle between. For example, you might have:

  • An "hourly" group, consisting of sections 9am-10am, 10am-11am, and so on.

  • A weekday group: the "group" might consist of a breakfast section (9am-12pm), lunch (12pm-4pm), and dinner (4pm-8pm)

  • A weekend group: compare sales across slightly adjusted mealtimes on Sundays, where the "group" might consist of a brunch section (9am-1pm) and an afternoon tea section (1pm-3pm)

Having multiple groups means that you can switch between different views depending on how you want to analyse your sales. Click Is Active to view your sales with that group.

Period Sales

Go to the Period Sales tab to see the sales stacked on a column graph. Each colour corresponds to a different "section" of sales (e.g. breakfast, lunch, dinner).

Image for illustration: in the below example, a multi-site business is logged in and is looking at its 2 child sites, so there are two columns per day.

Product Sales Activity

This report compares the sales of your products across any combination of your stores

Top Selling Products

This report compares the sales of your products across your stores.

Tender

This report compares the type of tender used in your stores (e.g. cash, credit card, voucher).

As a HQ account, you would also be able to export the tender breakdown for all of your stores as CSV and as PDF files.

Cash Register Report

This report shows when the POS Register was opened, closed, and whether there was any variance. It also includes a breakdown of sales by payment method.

 Buying Behaviour

This report counts how many customers there were every hour, and the average sales.

Buying Behaviour only covers paying customers. Regardless of guest count, customers are calculated by the number of people who pay (including via split payment).

For example, if 2 people dine, but only 1 person pays, that is considered to be only 1 customer.

 Customer Activity

This report shows the sales for your registered customers.
