Here’s a clear breakdown of the difference between a Member ID and a Member Code:

  1. Member ID:

    • This is automatically generated when a customer is registered in your system.

    • It is printed on temporary membership cards via the Point of Sale (POS).

    • The Member ID is permanent and cannot be changed.

  2. Member Code:

    • This is the number visible in the backend system.

    • Initially, the Member Code is the same as the Member ID, but you can manually change the Member Code if needed, such as for customizing membership cards.

Key Distinctions:

  • Member ID is auto-generated and unchangeable, while Member Code can be customized.

  • For QR Code membership cards, the prefixes are essential:

    • Member ID requires a semi-colon (;), e.g., ;1001

    • Member Code requires an at symbol (@), e.g., @1001

This distinction allows flexibility in managing membership identifiers while ensuring consistency in the system.
