  1. To start this process first make sure that the Star printer is turned on and that your iPad is connected to it with a USB cable.

  2. Once you have checked the above, open the App Store and search for the 'TSP100III Utility' app.

  3. Tap the GET/Download button and wait for the app to download.

4. Open the app from your iPad home screen. If the app prompts you to update the firmware select Yes. If the app does not prompt you to update, skip to step 5.

4a. Make sure that the correct printer is selected and press Update on the bottom right of the screen.

4b. The app will warn you not to turn off the printer and the lights on the printer will start to blink.

4c. After the update is finished, a message displaying Success will appear. You don't need to proceed with any further steps and you can now continue to use your Star USB printer as normal.

5. If you aren’t prompted to update the firmware, you will need to go to Selected Device on the main screen of the app and tap “Unselected State”.

6. Select the printer that is listed under USB. It should have a tick next to it once you select it. After it has been selected, press Apply on the bottom right of the screen.

7. Go to the Setting tab at the bottom of the screen and scroll down. Now tap on the Firmware Updates button.

8. In the popup, leave the Password field blank and press OK.

9. Select the top option and then press Update on the bottom right of the screen.

10. You will be prompted to do the update. Tap Yes.

11. The app will warn you not to turn off the printer and the lights on the printer will start to blink.

12. After the update is finished, a message displaying Success will appear. You can now continue to use your Star USB printer as normal.
