Sometimes the fix for a POS that keeps freezing, won't sync or behaves strangely is to reinstall the app. You can also use these steps to move your settings to a new Master iPad. Always back up first, or you could lose orders that haven't synced, your printer settings and your payment settings.

Before you start

  • Do this when you are not busy. It takes about 15 minutes.

  • Make sure the iPad is connected to the internet. The backup is saved to the cloud.

  • Sync your orders first so nothing is waiting to upload.

  • Have your Nomni login (email and password) ready.

Step 1: Back up your data

  1. On the iPad, open the menu and tap Settings.

  2. Tap Sync.

  3. Scroll down to EXPORT DATA and tap EXPORT.

  4. Wait until you see DONE. Don't close the app while it says "Uploading Data".

What you should see: DONE. If you see "Failed to upload the data to the cloud", check the Wi-Fi and try again. Don't uninstall until the backup works.

Step 2: Reinstall the app

  1. Press and hold the Nomni POS app icon, then tap Remove App > Delete App.

  2. Open the App Store, search for Nomni POS and install it.

  3. Open the app and log in.

Step 3: Recover your data

  1. Go to Settings > Sync.

  2. Scroll down to RECOVER DATA and tap SELECT.

  3. Pick your backup from the list. Choose the one marked Full Backup with the latest date.

  4. When you see "Recover data successfully. Please restart the APP", close the app fully and open it again.

  5. On the Master, run MASTER SYNC.

What you should see: your settings, printers, payment settings and order history are back. Slave iPads, KDS and kiosks reconnect to the Master.

Moving to a new Master iPad

Do Step 1 on the old Master. Install and log in on the new iPad, then do Step 3 there. If the new iPad has a different IP address, reconnect your Slaves and KDS to the new Master address.

If something goes wrong

"Found no backup data"

The backup didn't upload, or you logged in to a different account or store. Log in to the same store and try again. If you already uninstalled without a backup, message us.

The backup list only shows device settings

Choose the latest backup marked Full Backup. Other backups only restore device, printer and payment settings, held orders and connections.

Slaves won't reconnect after recovering

See "Master and Slave connection troubleshooting" and "Fix Wi-Fi drops on your Nomni POS iPad".
