How to calibrate a Zebra label printer that prints blank, skips or prints half labels

Recalibrate a Zebra ZD410, ZD411, ZD4110 or ZD4111 label printer when labels come out wrong

Quick answer: Make sure the printer is on and the light is solid green. Press and hold the FEED button. Then follow the steps below.

If your Zebra label printer prints blank labels, skips labels, prints across two labels or the light keeps flashing, it usually needs to be calibrated. This makes the printer measure the label size again. Our team fixes most label printer tickets this way.

Before you start

  • Use the label roll you normally use.

  • Check the labels are loaded under the guides and the lid clicks shut.

How to calibrate the printer

  1. Make sure the printer is on and the light is solid green.

  2. Press and hold the FEED button.

  3. Watch the light. When it flashes twice, let go straight away.

  4. The printer feeds a few labels while it measures them. Wait until it stops.

  5. Tear off the fed labels.

  6. Send a test order from the POS to print a label.

What you should see: one clean label per item, lined up inside the label edges.

If something goes wrong

The light flashed more than twice

If you held FEED for too long, the printer may print a long list of codes or settings (this is a test mode, not a fault). Turn the printer off, wait 10 seconds, turn it on, and repeat the steps. Let go after exactly two flashes.

Still blank or skipping

  1. Open the lid and check the label roll is the right way up and the labels sit under the sensor.

  2. Close the lid firmly, turn the printer off and on.

  3. Calibrate again.

Test print works but orders don't print labels

This is a settings or network problem, not calibration. Check the printer is on the same Wi-Fi network as the POS and that your products have the label printer location. See Printer not printing? Step-by-step fix by printer model.

Nomni POS Grocery: label printing jobs

On the grocery version of Nomni POS for Android, products waiting for a new shelf label go to Printing Jobs (in Products Setting).

  1. Open Printing Jobs.

  2. Choose a template in Select template.

  3. Select the products to print, or use Select All or Deselect All.

  4. Tap Print Selected, or Print All to print every label in the list.

The list shows Label Quantity, Product Name, Pricing, Special Pricing and Last Changed. The screen also has Auto-add and Print Queue.

After you save a price trigger, the POS can show "Price Trigger Added. Add product to Label Printing Job" and "You can view Label Printing Job in Products Setting".
