Nomni POS for Android 2.3.26 lets you leave chosen categories out of a public holiday or other general surcharge, adds a Select Card Type step to card payments, and fixes multi-day surcharges, member QR scans and price triggers on products with variants.
What changed
Leave categories out of a holiday surcharge. If a general surcharge (for example a public holiday surcharge) has Exclude Category set in Nomni Console, the POS now leaves those items out of the surcharge. A product that sits in more than one category is left out if any of its categories is excluded. If every item on the order is excluded, no surcharge is added.
New Select Card Type step. When you pay by card, the POS now asks which card the customer is using, the same way Nomni POS on iPad does. The card you pick decides which card surcharge applies. It doesn't change which terminal or payment provider is used.
Surcharges set for several days now apply on all of them. A surcharge set for, say, Saturday and Sunday used to apply only on the first day picked. It now applies on every day you selected.
Member QR scans no longer show a false error. Some scanners read one QR code twice, which showed "Please refresh your member QR code and scan again" even though the member was added. The POS now ignores the repeat scan.
Price triggers can include variant prices. When a price trigger is set in Nomni Console to include variant prices, the discount is now worked out on the product price plus the price of the chosen variant, including on split payments.
How to update
Finish or hold any open order.
Open the app store your device uses: the Nomni Store app on iMin devices, or Google Play.
Find Nomni POS and tap Update.
Repeat on every POS device in the venue.
Open the POS and let it finish syncing before you take orders.
What you should see: the first sync after updating can take a little longer than usual, because the POS downloads every product's categories again. This only happens once.
How to leave a category out of a holiday surcharge
Log in to Nomni Console and go to Sales > Surcharge.
Under the General tab, click the pencil icon on your holiday surcharge, or click New Item to create one.
In Exclude Category, pick the categories that shouldn't be surcharged.
Click Save.
On the POS, let it sync, then ring up a test order with one excluded item and one normal item on a day the surcharge applies.
What you should see: the surcharge is worked out on the normal item only. An order made up only of excluded items has no surcharge.
How to take a card payment with Select Card Type
Ring up the order and tap your card payment method.
In the Select Card Type window, tap the customer's card: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, EFTPOS, Union Pay, JCB or Other Cards.
If your POS shows a surcharge confirmation, check the amount and confirm.
Finish the payment on the terminal as normal.
What you should see: if you've set up a surcharge for that card type, it's added. If not, your All Cards surcharge is used. If neither is set up, or the amount is over the surcharge's maximum, the payment goes ahead with no card surcharge.
Australian venues: from 1 October 2026, Nomni POS doesn't add card surcharges for Visa, Mastercard, EFTPOS or All Cards on Australian-dollar accounts. You'll still see Select Card Type, but no surcharge is added for those cards.
Tap Cancel to close the window without taking payment.
If something goes wrong
"Invalid order, unable to start the payment"
This shows if the order changed while the Select Card Type window was open, for example an item was added or the total changed.
Check the order and total are right.
Tap your card payment method again.
Pick the card type.
