MOTO (mail order/telephone order) lets you charge a card without the card being present, for example a deposit taken over the phone.

Before you start

  • Nomni POS (iPad) with an integrated terminal that supports MOTO, such as Stripe.

  • MOTO enabled on your merchant account by your payment provider.

Steps

  1. Add the items or deposit to the order and tap pay.

  2. Choose MOTO. It only shows if your integrated terminal provider supports it.

  3. Enter the card details as prompted and complete the payment.

  4. Keep the receipt with the order.

If something goes wrong

  • MOTO doesn't show: your terminal provider may not support it, or it isn't enabled on your merchant account. Contact your provider.

  • Other terminals: some let you start MOTO from the terminal's own menu. Check your provider's guide.
