You can sell a product by weight, for example $24.90/kg. Nomni POS works out the price from the weight, and shows weights to three decimal places, for example 0.250 kg.
Set the product up in Nomni Console
Open the product and set its unit to kg. The price you enter is the price per kg. On the POS it shows as, for example, $24.90/kg.
Tick Weight Required if staff must weigh it on a connected scale.
Save. Then on each iPad, go to Settings > Sync and tap SYNC CHANGED PRODUCTS AND EXTRAS FROM BACKEND.
Connect a scale
Nomni POS for iPad supports CAS and Magellan scales. Set yours up in Settings > External Devices.
Helpful settings
A17 Auto Confirm Weight: adds the item to the order as soon as the weight registers.
A23 Use Container Weight: lets staff enter the container's weight. It's taken off the total so the customer pays for the product only.
C22 Print Item Label After It Has Been Weighed: prints a label after weighing.
Find them in Settings > System by searching the code, for example A17.
No scale? Enter the weight
If Weight Required is off, staff can type the weight. The receipt marks the weight as entered by hand.
Messages you might see
"Failed to weigh item" / "Please check connection to the scale and try again." The POS didn't get a weight. Check the scale is on and connected, and its set-up in Settings > External Devices, then weigh again.
"Unable To Set Negative Weight" / "Container weight is larger than total weight." The container weight is more than the total. Check both weights.
"Net Weight Is Zero" / "Cancel item instead." After taking off the container, nothing is left. Cancel the item if it isn't being sold.
"Weight Not Allowed" / "Item price will become negative." The weight would make the price negative. Check the weights you entered.
