A weighed item is priced by weight. Nomni POS reads the weight from a connected scale.
Before you start
Who: A manager sets this up. Any staff member can then sell weighed items.
Device: Nomni POS on iPad with a CAS or Magellan scale.
Permissions and settings: Manager access to Settings. The product must have Weight Required turned on.
Connect the scale
Go to Settings > External Devices.
Tap CAS Scale or Magellan Scale.
For a CAS scale, enter the port number and turn the switch on.
Put a known weight on the scale to check that a reading comes through.
Set a product to be sold by weight
Go to the top-bar menu > Products and open the product.
Turn on Weight Required.
Save. Then sync the other iPads.
Sell a weighed item
Go to Point of Sale and tap the item.
Place the item on the scale.
Confirm the weight. The item is added with its price worked out from the weight.
To skip the confirm step, turn on A17. Auto Confirm Weight in Settings > System. The item is then added as soon as the weight registers.
Take off the container weight
Turn on A23. Use Container Weight in Settings > System.
When you sell the item, enter the container weight. Nomni POS takes it away from the total weight.
If something goes wrong
No weight comes through: check the cable and power, check the port number, and turn the scale switch off and on again in External Devices.
Item adds without asking for a weight: check that Weight Required is on for the product.
Item adds before the weight settles: turn off A17 so staff confirm each weight.
