Rush an item or order to the kitchen on Nomni POS

Step-by-step: mark items as urgent so the kitchen sees RUSH on dockets and the KDS.

Rush marks items as urgent for the kitchen. It doesn't change the price, doesn't send held items, and doesn't show on the customer receipt.

Before you start

  • Who: Front-of-house staff.

  • Device: Nomni POS on iPad.

  • Permissions and settings: A30. Enable Hospitality Mode must be on. The item must be New or Held (not yet sent).

Rush one item

  1. Open the order on Point of Sale.

  2. On the item line, open the item actions (the same area as Takeaway, Hold and Send Now).

  3. Tap RUSH.

You should see a rush icon on the line, and the button changes to UNDO RUSH.

Rush the whole order

  1. Open Order Details.

  2. Tap RUSH. Every new or held item that isn't already rushed is rushed.

Rush a course

If you use courses, Nomni POS may ask what to rush: Rush single dish, Rush whole course, Rush course for guest or Rush course for table. Tap CANCEL to change nothing.

Undo a rush

  1. On the rushed line, tap UNDO RUSH.

Send the rushed items

  1. Rush doesn't send. Tap Send Now or fire the course as usual.

  2. The kitchen docket shows RUSH next to the item.

If something goes wrong

  • No RUSH button: check A30 is on and the item hasn't been sent.

  • Already sent: rush it from Nomni KDS on the docket instead.

  • RUSH not on the customer receipt: that's expected. It only prints on kitchen dockets.
