Use this guide when your EFTPOS terminal shows an error code, or Nomni POS can't tell whether a card payment went through. If the terminal won't connect at all, see EFTPOS terminal not connecting or card payment failing on Nomni POS.
Error codes on the terminal screen
Codes shown on the terminal itself, such as T802 on a Verifone terminal, come from the terminal or your bank or payment provider. Nomni POS doesn't create them, so we can't tell you exactly what they mean. Write down the code and contact your terminal provider. If the terminal still pairs with Nomni POS afterwards, card payments carry on as normal.
First: did the customer pay?
Before you charge again, check the terminal's last transaction or its receipt. Charging again without checking can charge the customer twice.
Messages in Nomni POS
"Get Last Transaction or Complete Payment as displayed on Terminal." (Linkly/PC-EFTPOS) Nomni POS stopped getting answers from the terminal. Tap GET LAST TXN to fetch the result. If the terminal shows APPROVED, complete the payment.
"Failed to get transaction status. Please tap "Retry", "Cancel" OR "Force Complete"" (Linkly Cloud) Tap RETRY to check again. Use FORCE COMPLETE only if the terminal shows the payment was approved.
"Unable to confirm payment status. Please check terminal history and retry." (ANZ Worldline) Check the terminal's history, then retry.
"Payment force canceled, please check payment manually" (ANZ Worldline) The payment was cancelled on the POS. Check the terminal to see if the customer was charged.
Tyro Payment Failed (Tyro; if integrated receipts are on, "Transaction Not Complete" copies also print) The terminal didn't approve the payment. Try again or take another payment method.
When to use FORCE COMPLETE
FORCE COMPLETE finishes the sale on the POS without a result from the terminal. Only use it when you've seen on the terminal, or on its receipt or history, that the payment was approved. If it wasn't approved, cancel and take the payment again.
