About

Staff can scan a QR code to hide or show different menu tabs.

This means that you can create different QR codes, so when you scan one, your Brunch Menu displays; when you scan another, your Dinner Menu displays.

You could also use this to set up different zones. For example, one section of your restaurant might have a Sushi menu; the other section might have a Barbecue menu.

You will need to scan the QR code for each Table Ordering app individually.

Using QR Codes to hide/show menu tabs is demonstrated through the example below.

Example scenario

Let’s say that this is your full Table Ordering menu that you have created on the backend:

In the Abacus system, each tab is numbered in the order that they appear.

To show any tabs, you need to create a QR code that says + and then that tab’s number.

To hide any tabs, you need to create a QR code that says - and then that tab’s number.

Example 1

For example, you want your Breakfast Menu to:

  • Show the “Hot breakfast” tab (1)

  • Show the “Continental breakfast” tab (2)

  • Hide the “Burgers” tab (3)

  • Hide “Sides” tab (4)

  • Hide the “Desserts” (5) tab

  • Show the “Beverages” tab (6)

Thus, you create a QR code representing the text +1, +2, -3, -4, -5, +6, like this one:

When you press Scan QR Code on the Table Ordering app and scan that QR code above, it will display the tabs for your breakfast menu.

Example 2

Next, let’s say you want to have a Burger Menu to consist of the “Burgers” tab (3), the “Sides” tab (4), the “Desserts” tab (5), and the “Beverages” tab (6). You do not want to show the other tabs.

You would create a QR code representing the text -1, -2, +3, +4, +5, +6, like this one:

When you press Scan QR Code on the Table Ordering app and scan that QR code above, it will display the tabs for your burger menu.
