In ABACUS POS, you can allow customers to select multiples of the same product variant, such as adding extra ingredients like sugar to an order. This is done by enabling the "Include Quantity" option. Additionally, you can choose whether to consolidate multiple selections into one line or list them separately. Below is a guide on how to configure these settings.

Enabling Multiple Quantities of a Product Variant

To allow customers to select the same product variant multiple times (e.g., adding 1x, 2x, or 3x sugar):

  1. Go to the Backend: Log into the ABACUS backend system.

  2. Navigate to Products: Go to Products > Product Variants.

  3. Edit Product Variant: Click the pencil icon next to the product variant you want to configure.

  4. Tick "Include Quantity": This option will allow users to select the same variant value multiple times.

    • Without "Include Quantity": Users can only select the variant once, and selecting it again will deselect the first option.

    • With "Include Quantity": Users can tap the same variant value (e.g., sugar) multiple times to increase the quantity (e.g., 2x sugar, 3x sugar).

Consolidated vs. Not Consolidated Variant Display

Once "Include Quantity" is enabled, you can choose how multiple selections are displayed on the POS:

Consolidated (Default Setting)

  • By default, when a user selects a variant multiple times, it will be consolidated into one line.

  • For example, tapping "Choc Wafer" twice will show as "2 x Choc Wafer" in a single line.

Not Consolidated

  • If you want each selection to appear on a separate line, tick the "Do Not Consolidate" option.

  • In this case, if a user taps "Choc Wafer" twice, it will appear as two separate lines, each showing "1 x Choc Wafer".
