How to Log In from the Lock Screen

After the ABACUS application has been idle for a designated time, it will log out the current user and display either the Lock Screen or the User Screen. Here are two ways to log back in:

  1. Using a PIN: Each user has a unique PIN that can be entered to log in quickly.

  2. Using a Password: Users can select their name from the list and enter their password to log in.

Setting a Password or PIN for Users

To set up a password or PIN for users in the ABACUS POS system:

  1. Go to the Users section in the backend.

2. Click on the user you want to set a password or PIN for, and go to their User Details.

3. Fill in either a Password or a PIN for the user.

4. Click Save to confirm the changes.
5. Repeat this process for all other users who need a password or PIN.
6. Once all changes are made, go to Settings > Sync > Sync Staff List on your iPad to ensure the staff details are updated on the POS system.

Configuring Auto Logout Time

To enhance security and prevent unauthorized access when the system is left idle, you can configure how long the ABACUS POS waits before automatically logging out a user. This ensures that the system isn’t left logged in when not in use.

  1. Go to Settings on the ABACUS POS system.

  2. Find B4. Cashier Auto Logout Time.

  3. Enter the number of seconds you want the system to remain idle before logging out the user.

  4. Tap Save to Server to ensure the setting is remembered across all devices.

    Logging In with a Password

If you prefer to enforce user login using a password:

    1. Go to Settings on your ABACUS POS system.

2.Enable the setting B1. ENFORCE USER PASSWORD.

3.Tap Save to Server to save this setting.

Once this setting is enabled, after a user logs out or the system becomes idle, the User Screen will appear. Users will need to select their name and enter their password to log back in.

Logging In with a PIN

For faster logins, you can enable PIN-based authentication

  1. Go to Settings on your ABACUS POS.

  2. Enable A8. USE LOCK SCREEN

  3. Tap Save to Server to ensure this setting is saved.

When this setting is activated, after a user logs out or the system is idle, the Lock Screen will appear. Users can enter their PIN to quickly log back in.

  • Flexible Login Options: Choose between password-based logins or quicker PIN-based logins depending on your business needs.

  • Syncing Staff Information: Ensures all login credentials are updated across devices, maintaining consistency and security.
