Use this guide if your barcode scanner won't connect to Nomni POS or scans aren't adding items.
First, which scanner do you have?
Bluetooth scanner (Socket Mobile). It pairs with the iPad in iPad Settings > Bluetooth.
Wired network scanner. It plugs into a small converter box connected to your router, and sends scans to the POS iPad over the network.
Camera scanner. It uses the iPad's camera, from the scanner icon in the POS.
Bluetooth scanner (Socket Mobile)
Wake it up. The scanner sleeps after a while. Press the scan button, and it should reconnect within about 30 seconds and beep once.
Set Auto-Lock to Never on the iPad (Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock).
Check Bluetooth is on and the scanner shows as Connected in iPad Settings > Bluetooth.
Re-pair it if it's listed but won't connect. Follow the steps in Socket Mobile Scanner Setup.
Check it's paired with the right iPad. For the POS, that is usually the Master iPad.
Wired network scanner
Power. Check the scanner lights up and the converter box is powered and plugged in to the router.
Same network. The POS iPad must be on the POS Wi-Fi, not the guest Wi-Fi.
App open. Keep Nomni POS open on the iPad the scanner is set up with.
After a power cut or internet outage, the iPad may have a new IP address and the scanner can't find it. Contact support with the iPad's Device ID (Settings > Device) and its device address (Settings > Connection). We'll reconnect the scanner and can set a fixed address so it doesn't happen again.
Scanner works but the item isn't found
The barcode must be saved on the product in Nomni Console, then synced to the POS with a Master Sync.
To add new products automatically when a barcode isn't found, go to Settings > System and turn on A26. Create new product with scanned product code not found in system.
Camera scanner
If you see "Camera permission denied", go to iPad Settings > Nomni POS > Camera and turn it on.
Still not working?
Contact support with your store name or Store ID, the scanner brand and model, how it connects (Bluetooth or wired), the iPad's Device ID, and a photo of the scanner and any converter box.
