Quick answer: On the Master iPad, open the menu and tap Held Orders . Check the list for any order that's still there. If you use tables, open the menu, tap Table Map and look for tables that still show an open order. Then follow the steps below.
Use this guide when Nomni POS for iPad won't let you close the register, or warns you about unsettled orders when you try. Find the message you see below and follow the steps for it. For the normal close and cash-up steps, see Close the register and cash up on Nomni POS.
Before you start
Which iPad: close the register on the Master iPad. Nomni POS checks for unsettled orders on the Master iPad.
Where things are: tap the dropdown arrow at the top of the screen to open the menu. Held Orders, Table Map and POS Register are all in that menu.
"Unable to Close Register" (there are still unsettled orders)
The full message is "There are still unsettled orders in the system. Please close them before closing the register." It shows when setting A11 (Enforce Closing Unsettled Orders Before Closing Register) is on and the Master still has orders that haven't been paid.
An unsettled order is one of these:
a held order, including an order still open on a table
an order the kitchen has finished or marked ready on Nomni KDS, but nobody has taken payment for yet
On the Master iPad, open the menu and tap Held Orders. Check the list for any order that's still there.
If you use tables, open the menu, tap Table Map and look for tables that still show an open order.
For each order you find, either take payment for it, or delete it if it was never meant to be charged.
Go back to POS Register and tap CLOSE REGISTER again.
What you should see: "Proceed to close POS Register?" Tap YES to carry on. This can't be reversed.
If you can't find any open order but the message keeps showing, run a master sync on the Master iPad and update every iPad to the latest Nomni POS from the App Store, then try again.
"There Are Still Unsettled Orders." Continue closing register?
You see this instead when setting A11 is off. You can tap YES to close anyway, but it's best to tap NO, settle or delete those orders first using the steps above, and then close. That keeps the day's sales and cash in the right register.
"Cannot Close Register" when you tap POS Register
"Complete transaction before closing." A payment is part way through on this iPad. Finish it first.
"An order is currently being processed. Either delete or hold the order." The order on screen has items already sent to the kitchen. Hold it or delete it, then open POS Register again.
"Unable To Navigate. System is in the process of auto closing register." The register is already closing by itself. Wait a minute and check again.
Other messages while closing
"Do you want to reset all the product portions" appears if you use portions. Tap YES to choose which products to reset, or NO to leave portions as they are. Closing then carries on.
"Unable to update orders on server, do you still want to Close Register?" means the iPad couldn't reach the internet to send today's orders. Fix the internet connection first, then try again.
"Sync is already in progress" means orders are still sending. Wait a moment and try again.
"Terminal settlement failed. Please reconnect the terminal and try closing the register again." Reconnect your card terminal and try again. See Card payment stuck, timed out or terminal disconnected.
Shift change: the earlier shift couldn't close
The register stays open until someone closes it. If the morning shift couldn't close because a table was still open, the next shift carries on in the same register.
Settle or delete the order that stopped the close (see above).
If cash is added to or taken from the drawer during the day, record it with Cash Pay In or Cash Pay Out. See Record cash pay in and pay out on Nomni POS.
At the end of the day, the person closing counts the whole drawer once and closes the register.
What you should see: your change appears after you save or sync, depending on the step above.
