Full guide: Staff Settings (Android).
Who: the venue owner or a manager.
Device: Nomni POS for Android 2.3.24 or later on every device.
How it works
Managers and admins are never asked for a PIN.
Staff, setting on, role allows the action: staff see a manager PIN prompt. A manager or admin enters their PIN and the action goes ahead.
Staff, role does not allow the action: staff see Access Denied ("You don't have access to this page/action."), whether the setting is on or off.
Setting off: the staff role alone decides. No PIN is asked.
Actions that can ask for a manager PIN
Apply discount to items and orders
Clear held orders
Open cash drawer manually
View reports
Access printer settings
Access POS settings
Cancel an item that has already been printed
Transfer items or orders (only asked when the setting is on)
Turn the setting on
Log in to Nomni POS as a manager or admin.
Open Settings > General Settings.
In Search Settings, type manager.
Turn on Staff require manager/admin PIN for protected actions.
Let the POS sync. Repeat the check on each device.
What you should see: the setting shows as on.
Check it works
Log out, then log in with a staff PIN.
Open the cash drawer from the menu, or try to apply a discount.
When asked, have a manager or admin enter their PIN.
What you should see: a manager PIN prompt appears for the staff member, and the action goes ahead once a manager or admin enters their PIN.
If something goes wrong
Staff see Access Denied instead of a PIN prompt: the staff role does not allow that action. Go to Settings > Staff Management > Manage Access Roles and allow it for the role.
No PIN prompt at all: check the setting is on and the device is on 2.3.24 or later. Then let the POS sync.
A manager is asked for a PIN: check that person's access role is set to Manager in Staff Management.
