Can't open Settings, or can't change a setting, on Nomni POS (iPad)

Why Nomni POS says "No Access to This Function" or won't let you change a setting, and how to fix it.

Quick answer: Log out of the staff account on the POS. Log in with a manager or admin account. Then follow the steps below.

Settings on Nomni POS for iPad are protected so that only the right people can change them. Use this guide if you can't open Settings, or you can open it but a setting won't change.

Before you start

  • You need a manager or admin login for Nomni POS.

  • To change roles, you need access to Users and Permissions in Nomni Console.

1. "No Access to This Function" when you open Settings

Settings need a manager login. Staff accounts see No Access to This Function and Log in using a manager account instead of a staff account.

  1. Log out of the staff account on the POS.

  2. Log in with a manager or admin account.

  3. Open the menu in the top bar and choose Settings.

If you should be a manager but still see this message, ask an admin to check your role in Nomni Console. See Users and Permissions.

2. You can open Settings but a setting won't change

Setting B13 Only Allow Admins To Change System Settings limits changes to admin accounts. When it's on, managers can see the settings but can't change them.

  1. Ask an admin to log in on the POS and make the change.

  2. Or ask an admin to turn off B13 in Settings > System if managers should be able to change settings.

3. Staff need a manager PIN for some screens

  • B15 Require Manager PIN: when it's on, staff need a manager or admin PIN to open the cash drawer, view reports, discount orders, transfer items and open printer or POS settings.

  • B8 Allow Staff To Change Printer Settings: lets staff add printers and change printer locations without a manager.

  • B7 Allow Staff To Open Cash Drawer: lets staff open the drawer from the printer menu.

To find any setting, go to Settings > System and type its code (for example B13) in the search bar. After changing settings on the Master POS, go to Settings > Sync and tap MASTER SYNC so every iPad gets them. More codes: Nomni POS system settings: what the common codes mean.

What you should see: the right people can open Settings and save changes.
