Make some tables pay online when they order (Pay Later: Exclude Table Range)

Keep Pay Later on for most dine-in tables but make chosen tables pay by card when they order through QR or online ordering.

Quick answer: In Nomni Console, open POS > Online Store > Pay Later Configuration. Under Pay Later - Eat In, make sure Eat In Pay Later is ticked and Pay Later Only is not. Click Exclude Table Range, tick the tables that must pay when they order, and click Save in the pop-up. Customers at those tables won't see the Pay Later option, so they pay online at checkout. Every other table can still pay later.

Who this is for: venue owners and managers who use Nomni QR or online ordering for dine-in, and can sign in to Nomni Console.

Before you start

  • Pay Later for eat-in is already set up. If it isn't, see Pay Later: let customers pay at the counter or table first.

  • Your tables are set up on Nomni POS. The list you pick from shows your venue's POS tables by name.

  • Online card payments (credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay) work for your online store. Customers at excluded tables need one of these to pay.

Choose the tables that must pay when they order

  1. Sign in to Nomni Console and go to POS > Online Store > Pay Later Configuration.

  2. Under Pay Later - Eat In, check that Eat In Pay Later is ticked.

  3. Check that Pay Later Only is not ticked. While Pay Later Only is ticked, the Exclude Table Range button is greyed out.

  4. If you changed either tick box, click Save at the top of the page first.

  5. Click Exclude Table Range.

  6. In the Exclude Table Range pop-up, click Select Tables and tick each table that should pay when it orders. You pick tables from the list; you don't type a range.

  7. Click Save in the pop-up.

What you should see: the message "Table range is updated successfuly." The pop-up's Save button saves your table list straight away. You don't need to click Save on the main page for it.

What your customers see

  • At a table you excluded: the Pay Later button doesn't appear at checkout. The customer pays online by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay when they place the order.

  • At every other table: the Pay Later button still appears, with your own button text if you've set it. The customer can order now and pay at the counter or table.

  • Pickup and delivery orders: not affected. Those use their own Pay Later - Pickup and Pay Later - Delivery settings.

To stop excluding a table, open Exclude Table Range again, untick it and click Save in the pop-up.

If something doesn't look right

  • The Exclude Table Range button is greyed out: Pay Later Only is ticked. Untick it, click Save at the top of the page, then try again.

  • An excluded table still sees Pay Later: check these two things.

    • Pay Later Only is ticked. While it's on, every eat-in table can pay later and your excluded tables are ignored. Untick it and save.

    • The table in the customer's QR code doesn't match the table name you ticked. Nomni compares them exactly, so "T1" and "1" count as different tables. Check that the table in the QR code link (the part after table=) matches the table name in the list.

  • You can't tick Pay Later Only: you need to tick Eat In Pay Later first. Otherwise you'll see "To enable 'Pay Later Only', 'Eat In Pay Later' must be enabled."

  • A table is missing from the list: the list shows the tables set up on your Nomni POS. Add the table on the POS, then open the pop-up again.

  • "An unexpected error occurred. Please try again.": your table list didn't save. Refresh the page and try again. If it keeps happening, contact us.

  • A customer had the menu open before you saved: ask them to refresh the page or scan the QR code again.

  • You want certain menu items, not tables, to be paid first: this setting works by table only.
