Use this guide if: your printer stopped printing, orders are not printing in the kitchen, only one section (for example the bar or the roll station) is not printing, or the printer icon on Nomni POS shows a number.

Printer tidak mau print / order tidak keluar di satu section? Ikuti langkah di bawah.

There may be several reasons why your printer is not working.

If Nomni POS (formerly Abacus) is unable to send an order to a printer, the printer icon will light up with the number of banked up print tasks.

Note: The icon will not blink if you have not set up printing in the first place, i.e. if you do not set a printer location for a product, or if you have not "enabled" a printer connection.

If your printing has worked before, and you have made no changes: If your kitchen printer frequently stops working and requires restarting the internet or iPad to restore functionality:

  • Ensure all cables are securely connected.

  • Reconnect the network cable to ensure a stable connection.

  • Investigate your network setup to identify potential issues that may cause recurring disconnections.

If you may have made changes to your menu, please ensure that:
✅ The right printer locations are assigned to your products.
Edit your Menu to assign a printer location to your product.

If you may have made changes to your settings:

  1. Ensure that the printer has been discovered on your Master. Discovered printers will be listed in your Printer List with a green tick symbol.

  2. Ensure that the printer has been selected on your Master. Selected printers will have the switch toggled on to blue.

  3. Tap on the gear icon and press PRINT.

  4. If your connection is working, you will receive a test print from your printer.

  5. Ensure that the right printer locations are assigned to your printer.

  6. Tap to tick a printer location.

  7. Go to your Nomni POS System Settings. Ensure that you have Printer/Receipts enabled for your workflow:
C1. PRINT ORDER DOCKET UPON PAYMENT COMPLETE
C3. PRINTER ORDER DOCKET UPON HOLD ORDER
    C13. PRINT TRANSFER NOTICE
    C14. PRINT CANCEL NOTICE

Further things to check:

✔️ Network Connection Issues Indicated by LED Behavior If the yellow LED on your kitchen printer is off or blinking, it indicates a network connection issue. To resolve this:

  1. Restart your Wi-Fi router and the printer.

  2. Inspect the network/interface cable and reseat it firmly on both the printer and the router/switch.

  3. Ensure the LEDs are steadily lit and test a print from the POS system.

✔️ The printer is Set As Default If a docket fails to print at another printer, it will redirect to your POS Counter printer. If your POS Counter printer cannot be reached, it will then go to your Default printer.

✔️ The items in question have not already been held before Items that have already been held will have a light red background, and will not be automatically printed upon a subsequent holding.

✔️ Redirect Orders to a Backup Printer If your kitchen printer is disconnected, redirect kitchen orders to a backup printer, such as the PASS docket printer, to ensure uninterrupted service.

✔️ There are not any other printing tasks blocking the queue
Press the printer icon, then Print Tasks (X). "X" designates the number of printing tasks that are in the queue, usually tasks that have failed.

Delete the printing tasks in the queue. If you have connected to another working printer, you can alternatively press Resume to redirect the printing tasks to that printer.

If you still need assistance, contact our support team. To prevent future issues:

Common questions

My printer stopped printing. What do I check first?

Check the cables and network, restart the router and the printer, then press PRINT on the printer's gear icon on the Master to send a test print. See the steps above.

Orders are not printing in only one section (for example the bar or kitchen).

The products for that section probably have no printer location, or the printer is not ticked for that location. Edit the products to assign the printer location, then tick the location on the printer.

The printer icon has a number on it.

Those are failed print tasks. Tap the printer icon, then Print Tasks (X). Delete them, or tap Resume to send them to a printer that works.

The kiosk is not printing order numbers.

Check that printer locations are set for the kiosk products and the printer, as above.

Held items did not print again.

Items already held show a light red background and do not print again on the next hold. This is expected.
