Quick answer: Create a perk with Discount type Percentage at 100, Discount target Product, and the reward product selected. Set Redemption mode to Recurring. Then add a Product Count targeting rule with the same product, operator Equals (equal to) or Greater Than or Equal (at least), and the number of purchases needed, for example 5.
Before you start
The Product Count rule only appears if your account supports it. If you can't see it in the rule list, contact us.
Steps
In the Nomni Console (the Nomni POS back office), click Loyalty Marketing in the top bar, then go to Perks > Perks List. Click Add New Perk, then Start from Scratch.
Enter a Name, for example "Every 6th coffee free", and choose your Redemption platforms.
Under Discount configuration, click Percentage and enter 100.
Set Discount target to Product and choose the reward product, for example your coffee.
Click Next. Under Usage limits, choose Recurring. You don't need a reset frequency for this type of perk.
Under Targeting rules, click Add new rule and choose Product Count.
Choose the operator Equals (equal to), Greater Than or Equal (at least) or Greater Than (more than). Other operators may show in the list but can't be saved yet. Enter the count in Value (for example 5) and pick the Product. Click Add.
Click Save Perk.
How the count works
The count includes the customer's completed purchases of the product, plus any of that product already in their cart.
Cart items first complete the count. Only items after that get the reward. For example, with a count of 3, 2 past purchases and 2 in the cart, the first cart item is the 3rd purchase and the second one is free.
The reward is limited to one unit of the reward product.
After the reward is redeemed, the count starts again from 0.
While locked, customers see a message like "Purchase 2 more [product] to redeem [product]." Once unlocked, they see "[perk name] reward unlocked."
Common messages
"Please enter a product count of at least 1." Enter a whole number of 1 or more.
"Please select a product for the rule." Pick the product being counted.
"Product Count operator must be ==, >= or >." Use Equals (equal to), Greater Than or Equal (at least) or Greater Than (more than).
