About

Bolt Payments is one of the payment devices that integrate with Abacus via POSgate.

To set it up:

  1. Activate POSgate

  2. Set up 3/4G fallback connection

  3. Set the terminal to WiFi mode

  4. Connect to WiFi network

  5. Reserve IP address at router - you will need an Abacus technician to help you with this.

  6. Pair with Abacus POS

How to activate POSgate

  1. Press the FUNCTION button

  2. Select 2

3. Enter the Access Code (0240)

4. You will be directed to select which interface type you want.

5. Select 4 - POSgate

6. Press Enter, then Skip, then Cancel

Set up 3/4G fallback connection

  1. Press the Circle button (⚫)

  2. Select Terminal

  3. Select Host Comms

  4. Select GRPS

Set the terminal to WIFI mode

  1. Press the Circle (⚫) button

  2. Select Terminal

  3. Select Others

  4. Select Interface

5. Select WIFI

6. Select Server

7. Enter port no. 4643

8. Set POS COMS SS to ON

9. Select SSL Profile Name POSGATE

10. Press Cancel to exit

How to connect to your network

1. Press the Circle (⚫) button

2. Select Terminal

3. Select Others

4. Select Settings

5. Select WIFI

6. Select Scan networks

7. Select your Abacus WIFI network

8. Enter your Abacus WIFI password

9. Press Enter again

How to pair with Abacus POS

Having already connected to the network, go back to the WIFI screen, then:

  1. Select Advanced Options

  2. Select Default IP Configuration

  3. Take note of the device's IP address.

4. In Abacus, go to Settings > Payment

5. Enable Custom Payments

6. Select Ingenico POSgate Payment and select Bolt Payments

7. Enter the payment terminal's IP Address into the grey field beginning 192.168...

8. In the field immediately on the right of it, enter the port number 4643

9. Tap Connect

When you are successfully connected, you will see:

  • Connected status

  • Green Ready signal ("R")

  • Green Terminal Connected signal ("TC")

How to enable/disable printouts

We highly recommend that regardless of your printing settings on the payment terminal, you also have the Merchant Copy set to ALWAYS PRINT on the POS.

This will make it easier for Bolt Payments to support you if there are any charge backs, disputes, or reprocessing.

Enable/Disable Customer Receipts

1. Press the FUNCTION key

2. Enter 16, then press Enter

3. Select whether you want the customer receipt to:

  • Never print

  • Always print

  • Prompt to print for each transaction

4. Press Enter

Enable/Disable Merchant Receipts

1. Press the FUNCTION key

2. Enter 15, then press Enter

3. Select whether you want the merchant receipt to:

  • Never Print

  • Always Print

3. Press Enter

How to log into the Terminal Management System (TMS)

1. Press the Function key

2. Enter 102

3. The login process will begin

Troubleshooting

Unable to login or accept payments?

Check your internet connection, and whether you are connected to the POS.

Unresponsive terminal?

Reboot terminal

If your Bolt Payments is not responding, reboot the terminal:

Press and hold the FUNCTION and CLEAR buttons together

Still no resolution?

Change to standalone mode

As a last resort, you can use your Bolt Payments terminal in standalone mode, meaning that you can keep taking payments without it being connected to Abacus POS.

  1. Press the FUNCTION button

  2. Select 2

  3. Enter the Access Code (0240)

  4. You will be directed to select an interface type.

  5. Select 1 - None

  6. Select Skip, then Cancel
