Nomni POS can't connect to your EFTPOS terminal

Fix "can't take card payments" when Nomni POS and the card machine won't talk to each other

Written by Lucien Hopkinson

Use this guide when Nomni POS won't send the amount to your card machine, shows a pairing failure, or says payment data is missing.

Quick checks

  1. Check the terminal is on, charged and showing its home screen.

  2. Check the terminal and the iPad are on the same Wi-Fi network.

  3. On the iPad, update Nomni POS from the App Store (see "How to update Nomni POS").

  4. Restart the terminal, then close and reopen Nomni POS.

Check the payment method is set up on this iPad

  1. On Nomni POS, open Settings > Payment.

  2. Tap your terminal provider (for example Tyro, Windcave, Adyen or Linkly).

  3. Check it is turned on and paired with this terminal.

  4. Open Settings > Sync and tap SYNC PAYMENT INFO.

What you should see: a test card payment of a small amount sends to the terminal.

A second iPad (slave) can't pair

Each iPad that takes card payments must be paired with its own terminal. Follow your provider's pairing guide on that iPad: Tyro, Linkly Cloud Connect, NomniPay.

If something goes wrong

"Failure Pairing" or the terminal IP looks wrong

  1. Check both devices are on the same network, not a guest network.

  2. Restart your Wi-Fi router.

  3. On the iPad, turn off Private Wi-Fi Address (see "Fix Wi-Fi drops on your Nomni POS iPad").

  4. Pair again.

Still not working
